Day 1: Transfer to Ha Giang, Warm up ride 20 km
Cycling distance: 20km cycling; Elevation gain/lost +300/-300
Today’s the day we kick off this epic adventure! We’ll journey by bus to the captivating border town of Ha Giang, where Vietnam’s northeast unfolds in all its scenic glory. Take in the views, stretch those legs, and get ready for the excitement to come.
Once we reach our cozy hotel, it’s time to jump right into the action! We’ll hop on our bikes for a gentle 20km ride around Ha Giang city. Consider it a scenic warm-up, a chance to loosen those legs and get a glimpse of the breathtaking landscapes that await us on this unforgettable journey.

Day 2: Hà Giang – Quan Ba Hmong Resort
Cycling distance: 50 km, Elevation gain/lost +1400/-1000
We depart early from Ha Giang for an adventure-filled day. Cycling along the Lo River, we encounter ethnic hill tribes like the Hmong and enjoy the scenic forested area. After a 35 km climb and descent for lunch, we visit the traditional craft village of Lung Tam known for brocade weaving by the Hmong. Our day ends with a 2km climb to the Hmong Village resort, our peaceful retreat for the next tonights.

Day 3: Hmong resort – Dong Van

Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey. Fuel up with a delightful breakfast at the resort, then we’ll embark on our first full day of cycling adventures! A short transfer brings us to where our bikes await, ready to explore some of the most remote and breathtaking landscapes in Vietnam – the aptly named “flower of the rock” region.
After a hearty lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll delve into the rich cultural tapestry of the region with a visit to the Palace of the Hmong King. Immerse yourselves in the traditions and stories of this fascinating community.
Our cycling route then takes us on an exhilarating ride along the renowned Happy Road, a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the local people. Built by hand between 1959 and 1965, this road is a true marvel, connecting four districts and offering stunning vistas along the way.
Finally, we’ll arrive in Dong Van, a prominent town in the area. Here, you can freshen up with a quick shower and perhaps raise a toast with a well-deserved beer to celebrate our accomplishments for the day.

Day 4: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Boat trip – Bao Lac

Today holds the promise of exhilarating cycling and captivating landscapes! We begin by conquering the remarkable Ma Pi Leng Pass, a highlight of our journey. As we ascend, the grand gorges stretching out towards the China border, merely 20 kilometers away, offer a majestic view. This border region, steeped in historical significance and cultural richness, has seen vigilant defense efforts by the Vietnamese and serves as a bustling trade hub owing to its permeable nature.
Following a coffee break in Meo Vac, we continue our climb towards Khau Vai, renowned for the Mong People’s unique love market festival in April. Afterward, we descend to the Nho Que River and embark on a scenic hour-long boat ride along this picturesque waterway. Subsequently, we take a one-hour bus ride to our accommodation for the night in the quaint town of Bao Lac.

Day 5: Bao Lac – Pac Po – Cao Bằng

Today we took on the legendary Khau Coc Cha 14 Slope Pass, a true test of endurance and a highlight of Cao Bang Province. As you navigated the steep slopes and winding paths, breathtaking vistas of mountains and valleys unfolded before you, a reward for your efforts.
Descending into the valley, you found yourselves immersed in the heart of Tay culture, the predominant ethnic group in this region. Their unique traditions and way of life add a special touch to the Cao Bang experience.
Another invigorating climb led you to the peak of today’s adventure, followed by a descent to a simple lunch and a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Cao Bang city. It’s a day to reflect on your accomplishments, surrounded by the natural beauty of this remarkable region.

Day 6: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc

This morning, we hit the road with a quick transfer, strategically bypassing some of those tough uphill climbs to keep your energy high for the day’s adventures.
Today’s cycling route winds its way through the picturesque landscapes of Cao Bang, a region known for its unique geological formations and rich cultural heritage. You’ll witness firsthand the traditional lifestyles of the Tay and Nung people as you pedal through charming villages nestled amidst vibrant green rice paddies. Our journey includes fascinating stops at an incense-making village, a knife-making village, and a paper-making village, offering a glimpse into the local craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.
After a satisfying lunch in Trung Khanh, we’ll continue our journey, following the gentle flow of the jade-blue Quay Son River towards our cozy hotel. Imagine the tranquil scene of water flowing past as we cycle, a prelude to the breathtaking Ban Gioc waterfall that awaits us near the Chinese border.

Day 7: Ban Gioc – Ha Noi
Today marks the final chapter of our incredible cycling adventure, as we bid farewell to the stunning landscapes of Northern Vietnam. Our journey back to Hanoi includes a leisurely transfer, allowing us to savor the memories we’ve created and reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome.
Along the way, we’ll make several stops to fully appreciate the beauty of the region, including a delightful lunch break in the charming city of Lang Son. This vibrant city, known for its rich history and cultural diversity, offers a final taste of Northern Vietnam’s unique charm before we reach our final destination.

- Guests should be comfortable on a bike and in reasonable physical condition. Cào Cào Adventures will provide thin and plastic rain poncho if customer does not bring.

Cancellation Policy
- Should you (the client) choose to cancel a booking, Cao Cao Adventures must be notified in writing or by email.
The following cancellation fees apply for our day tours:
- More than 15 days before departure, full refund of deposit.
- From 7 to 14 days before departure, non-refund deposit or 50% of total tour cost
- Under 7 days before the tour starts, loss 100% of all payments made.
- Late to starting point of the tour for whatever reason is a cancellation and will result in a loss of all payments made.
- No refund will be made should you voluntarily leave a tour early for any reason including not being able to ride a bicycle at a sufficient level to do the tour.
- In some cases, the deposit may equal the full value of the tour
